HMP & YOI Hollesley Bay

HMP & YOI Hollesley Bay has been an operational prison within Hollesley for over 80 years.

During the summer of 2018, Hollesley Parish Council were made aware of moves to change the permitted personnel to the prison, to include those convicted of crimes of a sexual nature. This news has alarmed many residents of Hollesley and the Parish Council has endeavoured to open channels of communication with both the Prison and the Ministry of Justice over this proposal.

At the September 2021 meeting of Hollesley Parish Council, a representative from HMP Hollesley Bay informed the Councillors and those members of the public present, that a very small number of MCOSO were now resident at the prison. These men had been assessed as being safe to be in a Category 4 prison and they would be monitored very closely.

Below you will see all correspondence between Hollesley Parish Council, the Ministry for Justice and the Information Commissioners Office regarding the housing of MCOSO at HMP Hollesley Bay.
